Training & Experience

In 2024, I graduated from the Ikon Institute of Australia and I’m now a PACFA-registered psychotherapist. At Ikon Institute, I was trained as an integrative psychotherapist. This means I utilise a multidisciplinary approach drawing on a range of different models and theories best suited to the uniqueness of your lived experience, with the aim of formulating a therapeutic approach tailored to address your unique challenges.

Post-graduation I have gone on to complete training in Integrative Attachment Therapy (IAT), which is a new cutting-edge model of therapy that treats attachment insecurity in a targeted way.

Prior to my training as a therapist, for close to 8 years I worked in the not-for-profit space as co-founder of The Contemplary and in the health and wellness industry in floatation centres around Australia. As a meditation coach, I have trained in traditional and secular settings for over 10 years.

In traditional settings, I have studied mainly Tibetan Buddhism with teachers Venerable Lobsang Namgyel, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Lama Alan Wallace PhD, Shinzen Young, and Dustin DiPerna. In secular settings, I became qualified as a Cultivating Emotional Balance teacher, and a Unified Mindfulness L2 Coach, eventually gaining registration with the Meditation Association of Australia as a meditation teacher.

I bring this diverse knowledge base and skill set to my work as a therapist and meditation coach in a way that enables me to support a variety of populations, presenting issues, and priorities.

My Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic style is relational, gentle, and invitational, grounded in an integrative and non-pathologising approach that draws upon the latest research while always honouring the primacy of your lived experience.

I believe that at its core, therapy is a natural process of collaboration, co-regulation, and inner enquiry that simply provides the ideal conditions for healing to unfold. Over time, this process allows deep and lasting change to be possible.

As a longtime student of Buddhist philosophy and meditation, our therapy sessions together will emphasise slowing down, feeling and sensing mindfully through the body, and using imaginal practices to support aspects of self that are seeking understanding and integration.

At the moment I’m nearing the completion of training in Integrative Attachment Therapy (IAT), so I’m also able to start offering attachment repair utilising the ‘three pillars approach’ that works in a targeted way to heal attachment insecurity.

Hi there,
I’m Andrew Green.

The founder and director of
Natural Mind Therapy.

My journey into therapy, personal growth, and eventually becoming a therapist was sparked by my own mental health challenges earlier in life. Motivated by a desire for healing, and an abiding curiosity about the nature and life of the mind, I embarked on a path of formal education and deep personal exploration that has spanned over a decade.

Throughout this journey, I’ve studied and practiced a variety of therapeutic modalities and healing arts, always guided by compassionate mentors and teachers, and have continuously sought to deepen my understanding of the complexity and beauty of the human experience.

With time and practice, I’ve been able to cultivate and integrate ways of navigating life with more joy, spontaneity, and meaning, both personally and professionally. I’ve learned to approach life’s complexities with greater ease, less reactivity, and to embrace deeper connections in my work and relationships – and now I want to share this with others.

When I’m not in the clinic, I enjoy spending time in nature, playing the didgeridoo, working out at the gym, dancing, or diving into a great book or the latest sci-fi series.

If you’re curious about working together, I invite you to schedule a free consult call. If I’m not the right fit, I’d be happy to connect you with a trusted colleague.

-Andrew
